Updated Practice Research Collaborative Guidelines

​Introduction
The purpose of these guidelines is to:

Provide help and advice to any new or existing Practice Research Collaborative (PRC)
-
Set out the aims and objectives of PRCs
-
Set out the guidelines for the running, activities and leadership of PRCs
Aims and objectives of PRCs
The aim of PRCs is to provide ongoing networking, exchange of ideas, information and collaboration in an area of practice research interest during and between practice research conferences
PRCs provide the infrastructure for networking among people interested in the same area. PRCs are encouraged to:

Arrange activities/meetings within the Practice Research international conferences related to their interest area

Arrange meetings, webinars or other network activities between conferences
-
Communicate their ideas/activities/work by highlighting this on the Practice Research Community website
-
Encourage inclusive participation and promote the benefits of their PRC
Proposing a new PRC
Members of the community who wish to establish a new PRC are required to inform the International Advisory Board with a proposal that addresses the following:

Title of proposed PRC [since all PRCs are international, the term does not need to be included in the title]

Name of the Chair/Lead [it would be helpful to note the previous experience of the chair with respect to involvement in prior ICPRSW conferences or PRCs or Webinars related to practice research]

A paragraph setting out the field of interest of the PRC. The PRC should focus on practice research topics and should be broader than the limited focus of a conference presentations [it would help to include a definition of the proposed PRC title, rationale for the need for the PRC, practice research ideas drawn from our website library, and any history of being connected to practice research]

A list of those members who will form the initial PRC [ideally from more than one country and based on those who have demonstrated some experience with practice research]

Submission of a proposed schedule of online and/or in-person meetings of the Collaborative

Submission of a proposed one paragraph description of the PRC for uploading to the PRC section of the ICPRSW website

Plans for a proposal to lead a session at the next ICPRSW conference
-
Preparation of a brief annual statement highlighting the PRC past activities and plans for the future to be presented at an International Advisory Board meeting
Structure, roles, responsibilities within PRCs
Each PRC should have a Chair/Lead. It is encouraged that researchers at different career stages are motivated to take the lead or co-lead on activities.
The PRC Chair/Lead is expected to be nominated from within the PRC and hold overall responsibility for the PRC. Chairs/Leads are encouraged to change every second year.
PRCs are encouraged to discuss the chair position and to discuss how other members of the PRC are involved in activities – could be a secretary for the PRC, could be arranging specific activities (webinars, symposium/workshops at conferences etc.).
Those in the roles as chair, secretary, head of activities etc. should liaise with each other throughout the year to ensure that the PRC remains active and focused.

PRCs are encouraged to cultivate collaborative networks between each other by for example

Planning joint webinars

Planning joint meetings/symposiums at Practice Research conferences
PRC on the Practice Research community Website
Each PRC is expected to be presented at the Practice Research Collaborative website.
Please include the following in the description of the PRC for the website:

Roles/responsibilities assumed by members within PRC, including the Chair or Lead
